Hyper-CVAD and High-Dose Methotrexate/Cytarabine
Purpose: Diffuse and nodular forms of mantle-cell lymphoma (MCL) are consistently associated with poor prognosis. In an effort to improve the outcome, we adopted a treatment plan that consisted of four courses of fractionated cyclophosphamide (CY) 1,800 mg/m 2 administered with doxorubicin (DOX), vincristine (VCR), and dexamethasone (Hyper-CVAD) that alternated with high-dose methotrexate (MTX)...

The impact on the patients' quality of life depends on the extent of the disease. The pathogenesis of the hand-foot syndrome has not yet been sufficiently clarified and it can only be treated symptomatically. We performed an extensive literatu...
متن کاملPalmar-Plantar Erythrodysesthesia Associated with Chemotherapy and Its Treatment
Palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia (PPE), also called hand-foot syndrome, is a relatively common dermatologic toxic reaction associated with cytotoxic chemotherapy that can limit the use of such drugs. Definitive prevention and treatment strategies for PPE have not yet been established. We present a patient with recurrent ovarian cancer developing severe hand-foot syndrome after treatment with p...
متن کاملHigh-dose cytarabine plus high-dose methotrexate versus high-dose methotrexate alone in patients with primary CNS lymphoma: a randomised phase 2 trial.
BACKGROUND Chemotherapy with high-dose methotrexate is the conventional approach to treat primary CNS lymphomas, but superiority of polychemotherapy compared with high-dose methotrexate alone is unproven. We assessed the effect of adding high-dose cytarabine to methotrexate in patients with newly diagnosed primary CNS lymphoma. METHODS This open, randomised, phase 2 trial was undertaken in 24...
متن کاملPalmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia associated with capecitabine chemotherapy: a case report
We report a case of a 62 year-old patient who developed Palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia upon receiving four cycles of capacitabine-based chemotherapy. She was on post surgical adjuvant treatment for invasive well differentiated adenocarcinoma of the colon. The clinical and therapeutic aspects of this chemotherapeutic adverse effect are discussed.
